FIL 21 – X : The Production

Petmalung Okipe ng mga Lodi.

This was not my first production of the semester but this was more stressful than the first one, which was Ang Tahanan ni Bernarda Alba. Anyway, this is just a small play by our Fil 21 class, with our Prof. Layeta Bucoy which is about the stories of the characters from Philippine myths and epics such as Lam-ang, Innes, Bugan, Banna and such.

I was in the Publicity Committee and I was the one in charge of editing the photos from the photoshoot that we did, to make it as their profile picture. I was happy with the feedback of the people, by how they are pleased and satisfied of how their pictures turned out. Well, the pictures are posted in public anyway, so here they are:

Now, on our first show, we got really scared because there were only few people who came to watch our show, including my friend Gale and Lois whom I really begged to come. I really want to show them this product that we have really worked hard for. As time pass by, our prof came and more people enter the room, until finally, our prof told us to start the show. I suddenly became a part of the lights and sounds committee, when I assisted Cyan on the sounds cuing when to start the music. By the way, before this prod actually started I also became a part of the set and props committee. But that’s really understandable since our class is only composed of few people and we have to help each other to pull this off nice.

For me, the actors and the actresses did very well on their job though my only comment to some of them was to make their voices louder so that the audience would stay focused on what they are saying. I’m yearning for more feelings. Oh, I wrote the script for the last performer, which was Bugan from the Ifugao Flood Myth, and can I just say that it really really really feels good to see something you wrote being performed? I just can’t help but smile and mouth the words as it was being perfomed by LC. She did great with the piece.

The second day was a blast! The room was so full of people that we really had to borrow some chairs from the other rooms. Aside from that, I really felt that everyone did their bests for this would be the our last show ever as a class. I feel proud of all of us. I know Ma’am is too.

Everyone had fun, especially during Hernan and Jollibee’s dance showdown. And Hernan, convincing Jollibee mascot to talk, for him to get his 1% (in order to pass the course). It’s also funny that one of our classmates, took a quiz at the party while everyone was chatting, and having fun. But then at least, our prof gave everyone a chance to pass our requirements.

This is a picture that we took at Jollibee. Too bad we were not complete.

I think I met a lot of good people in this class. I remember before, when the semester barely started, I knew only little people in the class including my roommate Kim. Almost everyone were strangers to one another, and our prof was shocked by that fact. She arranged our sitting arrangement into an order that she liked… I couldn’t really say random but kung ano lang yung trip niya. She told us that she would not approve that the semester would end, without us being friends with one another. When I think about that moment, I couldn’t help but smile. Because indeed, we really didn’t just become closer as classmates; we became closer as friends. Still friends, even outside of the class. I’m really thankful for getting to experience this productionon, even if it’s just a small one… It’s a blessing.
